I believe healthy relationships are the means for positive change in our lives. In my approach, this means trust, safety, and giving and receiving feedback from each other is foundational in our work together. With the practice of curiosity and exploration, I integrate Somatic Experiencing (SE), a body-oriented therapy approach, and attachment psychology to help you develop a greater sense of self-awareness, attunement with your internal experience and presence in your relationships with others. This will allow you to manage stress in healthy ways. My goal is not only to join you in resolving your symptoms, but to identify and resolve the source of those issues so you can experience healing, greater emotional capacity, resiliency, holistic health and lasting change.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and specialize in addressing problematic behaviors, addiction, trauma and other stress disorders. As a supplement to my work, I am certified as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), and Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP) Provider. I love to learn and often study in the areas of addiction and trauma. As a Board Approved Supervisor, I enjoy supporting new counselors, teaching and speaking on the topics of addiction and trauma.
I co-founded Communion Counseling and Wellness with the vision to bring together a variety of practitioners with various backgrounds, disciplines, perspectives and specialties in the healthcare and wellness fields to provide collaborative, holistic, integrative care and treatment on an outpatient basis.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in business and juris doctor from Louisiana State University. A few years later I went back to school and completed my master’s degree in counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. Prior to founding Communion, I gained extensive clinical and managerial experience in an outpatient treatment setting.
I am married to my wife of 15 years and we have 3 kids that keep us busy and on our toes. We spend time darting around town cheering our kids on at their sporting events, traveling and exploring new places together, and relaxing on a beach somewhere.
